Amiad Yisrael Ish-Ran, the first-born son of Shira and Amichai Ish-Ran, was born December 9 and died on December 12, 2018. One might think that there is not much that can be written about a tiny baby who died three days after his birth. And yet, this little one helped draw a grieving nation together after a particularly severe terrorist attack. In his short life, “Amiad Yisrael”, the name his wounded parents gave him after his untimely death, united Jews all over Israel and the world in prayer and loving deeds, reflecting their belief that our people, the People of Israel, are forever. Amichai’s mother Galila was born in Montreal, Canada, and came to Israel to study at Machon Gold. Here, she met Refael Ish-Ran, and made aliya as his wife in 1991. Shira’s parents, Chaim and Liora Silberstein, made aliya from South Africa.
Amiad was buried on Har HaZatim in Jerusalem.
