Life Story

Aaron Hanovice was born in Houston, Texas, on August 15, 1921 to Yisrael and Rivka. When he was a year old, Aaron made aliya with his parents and 11 siblings. The family first lived in Tel Aviv and then moved to Pardes Hannah. At the outbreak of World War II, Aaron volunteered for the British Army and served in the navy. When the United States joined the war against the Axis, Aaron was discharged from the British Army and drafted into the American Army, serving in Egypt until the end of the war. After the war, Aaron married and joined a transport company established by a group of American veterans. On August 14, 1947 he was killed in an Arab ambush of a truck convoy returning to Tel Aviv from the Rosh Ha'ayin quarry. He was buried in the Nachlat Yitzchak cemetery.
